beware of US Mail Renewal Invoices
A company calling itself "Domain Registry of America" is
targeting beHosting.com LLC customers to renew their domains.
They obtained our customers' contact information through the
publicly accessible WHOIS database, and are sending renewal notices
through regular mail in an envelope and on stationary suspiciously
designed to appear to be an official government notice.
It has been brought to our attention that these letters have been
causing a great deal of confusion among our customers. We hope to
clear up any confusion with this notice.
Please DO NOT send any money to "Domain Registry of
America" in order to renew your domain, as beHosting.com LLC is
your domain name provider. If you have already sent them payment, we
suggest contacting your bank or credit card company regarding your
options of having payment stopped or reversed.
Though the focus here is on "Domain Registry of America",
we are sad to report more bad news:
Even "trusted" names in the industry, namely Verisign/NetworkSolutions,
are employing similar deceptive tactics.
PLEASE BE ON GUARD! If you receive *anything* in the mail asking
you to pay to renew your domain name, please contact us before you
send money!
Please email benames@behosting.com if you have any questions about
unsolicited email messages regarding your domain name.
We regret that this notice is necessary, but feel it is important
to notify our clients of this issue. If you have any questions
regarding this or any other issue, please do not hesitate to contact
us.
